Pēteris Jansons uzdāvināja šo nolietoto, bet nozīmīgo cepuri muzejam “Latvieši pasaulē” 2011. gada jūnija beigās, kad viņu apciemojām Gotlandē, Zviedrijā. Pēteris Jansons to vilka galvā katru reizi, kad šķērsoja Baltijas jūru 1944.-1945. gadā, glābjot bēgļus un pārvedot cilvēkus no Kurzemes piekrastes uz Gotlandes salu. Pēteris Jansons has donated a used, but significant, cap to the Latvians Abroad museum. It was near the end of July when he gave it to us while we were visiting Gotland, Sweden. Jansons wore this very cap every time he crossed the Baltic Sea from 1944 to 1945. While wearing this cap, he was saving escapees and carrying them from Kurzeme to the island of Gotland.
